Writing Assignment for Oct. 9 Writing with Creativity Fall 2017 The Fairytale Retold The assignment: Write a retelling of a common fairy or folk tale. Length: At least 500 words Due date: Oct. 9 What I will be looking for: Clean, clear writing. A story which is both clearly a retelling of a common story, and which changes the story in at least one important way. It can by typed or neatly handwritten, but you must hand in a paper copy in class. I will give you notes on your writing style and your ideas, and also a letter grade with comments on how to improve in the future.

This exercise is intended to help you think about things that are important to you, so that your writing is more personal. Since these may be on the personal side, I won’t read them, just to see the pages you’ve filled completing the assignment, and we may talk about them a little in class.
